Our restaurant is seeking an experienced Chef with a commercial working knowledge of middle eastern cuisine to join our kitchen team.
About the business
Our restaurant is a busy neighbourhood restaurant specialising in contemporary middle eastern cuisine. We are all about providing the highest quality product, customer service, and position ourselves as a Tel Aviv styled bar/eatery.
The duties of the position include:
- Preparation of all dishes as per the restaurant menu. This including but not limited to preparation of ingredients, butchery of proteins, cooking and plating of menu items
- Control and order stock and maintain stock levels; maintain basic food cost control standards. Liaise with the Venue Manager regarding shortages/usages
- Ensure proper food handling procedures are followed for wrapping, labeling, dating, stocking, storing, rotating and checking temperature of products
- Collaborate with Venue Manager to plan and develop recipes and menus, considering factors such as seasonal availability of ingredients, the likely number of customers, portion size and final menu price
- Safely and responsibly operate kitchen utensils and/or equipment used for heating, weighing, measuring, mixing, washing, peeling, cutting, grinding, stirring, straining, slicing, assembling and kneading of food products
- Managing kitchen staff to ensure quality standards
You will possess the ability to self-motivate, enjoy working in a friendly team environment and remain positive in a busy kitchen with multiple streams of work.
You are also a commercial thinker and therefore you can effectively budget and adapt to seasonal trade of ingredients.

Salary: Between $74,000 to $80,000 per year negotiable on experience
Our candidates
- Have a minimum of 4 years previous experience as a Chef
- Have full working rights in Australia (PR, citizen, or alternative working visa)
- Have specific experience working with middle eastern cuisine
- Have a positive, can-do attitude with a very hands on approach
- Excellent communication and organisational skills
