Job Description:
Our client is seeking an experienced and passionate Meat Inspector to join our team on a full-time, permanent basis. As a Meat Inspector, you will be responsible for ensuring that meat is free from contamination and adheres to quality assurance regulations. They inspect a variety of meat products, including poultry, seafood, beef, and pork, before they are initially packaged. This role involves examining animal carcasses, internal organs, and meat processing facilities for diseases to ensure compliance with both government and industry standards related to quality and health.
Key Responsibilities:
- Inspecting animals to identify product quality issues, and providing advice to producers
- Auditing and monitoring quality procedures at food handling and processing facilities to ensure compliance with required standards
- Testing samples of produce for quality, size and purity
- Ensuring that required standards of hygiene are observed at storage, processing and packing facilities and in transport vehicles
- Advising primary producers on economic aspects of disease eradication and informing producers and the general public of the health implications of diseases and impurities
- Advising on the identification of pests and diseases and on regulations pertaining to grading, packing and loading of products
- Examining imported animals
- May initiate or assist in legal action to enforce regulations
- Identify and mitigate potential health risks associated with meat products
- Communicate effectively with colleagues and customers
- Use relevant computer software and technology
Required Qualification & Work Experience:
- For Meat Inspector: Certificate IV in Meat Inspection required
- For Meat Inspector Trainee:
- Speak good English
- University Degree in Vet, Animal Science, Biosecurity, Food Processing Technology
- 12 months work experience as meat workers in Australia are given top priority
Other Skills:
- Ability to work with a team and/or independently with less supervision
- Good communication skills
- With a good English test score is an advantage (minimum PTE score 36 or IELTS 5.0)
