Position Description:
We are seeking a passionate, experienced, and skilled Chef to join our kitchen team and help lead our culinary operations. The ideal candidate will have hands-on experience preparing authentic Nepalese, Indian, and multicultural cuisine, along with a strong understanding of food presentation, hygiene, safety, and team leadership.
This position is suited for someone who enjoys creating high-quality dishes, thrives in a busy kitchen environment, and has the creativity to innovate while respecting traditional flavors.
Key Responsibilities:
- Prepare, cook, and present authentic Nepalese and Indian dishes, including but not limited to:
- Nepalese: Momo, Thukpa, Choila, Kwati, Aloo Tama, Thakali Khana Set, Newari Cuisine, Keema Noodles, Himalaya Bowl, katti Roll, Samosa Tarkari, Paneer Chilly, Chicken Chilly, Lentis Soup, Chicken Curry, Himalaya Khaja Set, Himalaya Thali Set, Goat Bhutan Set, Buff Sukuti Set, Wai Wai Sadheko, Mustang Alu, Peanut Sadheko, Lauphing dry & Jhol.
o Indian: Samosa, Pakora, Tandoori Chicken, Paneer Tikka, Chicken 65, Aloo Tikki, Butter Chicken, Chicken Tikka Masala, Rogan Josh, Fish Curry, Chicken Chettinad, Palak Paneer, Chana Masala, Dal Tadka, Dal Makhani, Aloo Gobi, Baingan Bharta, Vegetable Korma, Basmati Rice, Jeera Rice, Pulao, Naan, Garlic Naan, Butter Naan, Roti, Paratha.
- Prepare additional multicultural dishes, including various Pastas, Noodles, steaks, Desserts, and Kid-Friendly Meals
- Taste and ensure the food meets the unique traditional taste profile (especially for Nepalese specialties)
- Creating new recipes and adapting existing ones to meet specific needs or dietary restrictions.
- Ensuring ingredients are fresh, properly stored, and prepared according to recipes.
- Manage kitchen operations efficiently, ensuring food quality, cooking, food storing, kitchen cleaning and timely service
- Supervise kitchen staff, delegate tasks, and prepare rosters
- Monitor and maintain inventory and food supplies
- Ensure hygiene and food safety standards are met (in line with HACCP and NSW Food Authority regulations)
- Maintain kitchen cleanliness and organisation
- Collaborate with management to refine menu and introduce seasonal dishes and budget constraints.
- Train junior kitchen staff and ensure quality food preparation techniques, safety procedures, and hygiene standards.
- Monitoring food stock levels, placing orders, and ensuring efficient inventory management.

Requirements:
- Minimum 1 year of relevant experience as a Chef, preferably in Nepalese and/or Indian cuisine
- Strong knowledge and skills in traditional Nepalese food preparation and spice balancing
- Experience in managing a team and kitchen operations
- Ability to multitask and work in a fast-paced environment
- Excellent communication and time-management skills
- Strong commitment to food hygiene and safety
- Flexibility to work during weekends, public holidays, and busy service hours
