This role is ideal for a highly experienced individual with 10+ years of recent experience in programming and setting CNC machines. We are looking for a top-tier professional who shares our passion for excellence and innovation, ready to join a fast-moving, dynamic team.
Our goal is to achieve 70% utilisation across multiple 5-axis machines within an automated cell, running lights-out operations. To succeed in this role, you’ll need to program with precision, accounting for in-process probing, chip management, coolant systems, tool redundancy, tool-life prediction, and other safeguards to ensure operational reliability.
RESPONSIBILITIES
- Program and set 5-axis CNC mills and CNC lathes.
- Utilise top-tier CNC machines, equipment, tooling, and workholding solutions.
- Continuously develop and optimise our global tool library and cutting parameter data.
- Conduct final inspection and measurement of manufactured parts.
- Design workholding solutions for prototypes and production.
- Enhance and grow your CNC programming expertise.
- Execute a mix of production work alongside prototype projects for clients in manufacturing, oil & gas, construction, defence, and infrastructure industries.
WHAT YOU’LL NEED
- 10+ years of experience as a machinist or CNC machinist.
- Expertise in 5-axis programming.
- Experience programming with CAM software (Fusion 360 preferred).
- Proven ability to produce tight tolerance parts for aerospace, defense, and other advanced industries.
- A strong desire to learn, grow, and tackle challenges.
- Excellent communication and documentation skills for explaining processes clearly.
- Passion for automation and an aversion to repetitive tasks.
- An A++ work ethic, with the ability to collaborate seamlessly as part of a team ("not my job" is not in your vocabulary).
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
BONUS POINTS
- Experience working with aerospace and defense components.
- Familiarity with AS9100D standards.
OTHER INFORMATION
- Our machines include 5-axis Okuma CNC Mills and DMG MORI NLX CNC Lathes.
- Candidates must have the right to work in Australia.
